When is the Right Time for a New Collaboration?

Posted by Robin Berg on Friday, September 1, 2023, In : New Beginnings
When is the right time to collaborate?
Collaboration can provide a much needed dose of inspiration, especially for women.

Whether it is simply because many of us were raised to be of service and help, or if it is a deep ancestral pull from centuries of doing shared work—baking, cooking, mending, childcare, gardening—many of us feel drawn to and uplifted by collaboration.

COVID put an exceptional strain on our inner need to work collaboratively with others, especially limiting physically s...

What DO you want? What to YOU want?

Posted by Robin Berg on Thursday, June 22, 2023, In : Aligned decision-making

Ok transparency- there are a couple shows I love to watch on CW. I find all things superhero and magic really fun and a great source of imagination and entertainment! Also honestly, I appreciate how CW finds a way to weave in relevant social issues into their storylines. It's kind of inspiring.

That said, I heard something truly profound on Charmed (yes Charmed), that I listened to four times- a conversation between two characters that went something like:

Jordan, as he spoke about a dream jo...

Do you have your Empowered Platform set up? Know your Red Flags?

Posted by Robin Berg on Monday, May 22, 2023, In : Soulful Leadership
Despite your level of power, leadership or influence, you are human.
You have human needs.
You have human flaws.
You get tired, stressed, overloaded, like everyone else. The distinction is that you, as a leader, have a higher level of responsibility to manage when your human side needs attention (because it's got broad impact.)

Do you know what your "Empowered Platform" looks like (for example)?
It's that version of you that:
√ Feels solid
√ Is clear-minded
√ Feels rested (maybe not perfec...

Exceptional is not born of ordinary choices

Posted by Robin Berg on Thursday, March 2, 2023, In : Aligned decision-making

Leaders with exceptional lives and careers do so by making choices that align with THEIR purpose vs. the Norm.

They ALIGN their daily choices with their greater vision, and minimize typical limiting cultural habits. (i.e. overworking, poor nutrition and health, excess stress, disconnection from Self/nature/community, sleep deprivation, suppressing creative expression and more.)

EXCEPTIONAL requires the courage to be DIFFERENT. To not "fit in," but instead blaze a trail. These people DO life ...

Posted by Robin Berg on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, In : Soulful Leadership

Soulful Leaders are everywhere. It's not limited to women in high power positions managing hundreds of people.

It's more about the qualities you LIVE BY that make you a leader.

Yes, Soulful Leaders often include C-Suite, V-Suite, managers and company owners.
AND -Can you be a Soulful Leader who is a writer, actor, consultant, solopreneur, parent or community member?
Absolutely.

Leadership expanded.

My guess is that many women in the world are leaders without knowing it (or owning it.)

Rising Above Circumstance to Live Your Vision

A definition of Freedom it goes something like this:

1. the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint.

2. exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.

3. the power to determine action without restraint.

We are incredibly fortunate to have our freedom politically-to be able to express ourselves and make all kinds of choices about how to live our lives...

The Gift of Receiving
An Essential Element of Flow

Recently there was a lovely, talented woman I spoke to who was struggling with a really difficult, stressful week.  Ironically, the week was tough because she'd received praise!  The praise brought up both a sense of pressure to continue performing at an exceptional level, and concern that her praise might take away from other equally deserving co-workers receiving recognition.  It was just really uncomfortable to receive praise...

A Motivating Way to Measure Success

Posted by Robin Berg on Thursday, May 5, 2011, In : Strategies
Hooray for May!
I’m definitely experiencing a sense of time moving quickly these days which is a good indicator that it’s time to get out in nature.

There’s something very equalizing about immersing in open space where there is a silent, subtle and innate rhythm.  It resets me and helps me remember my own rhythm, rather than a schedule-driven rhythm of urban business.

Hooray---very soon I’ll be able to spend a few days in the midst of a big open field where the air is clear, there’...

Growth: Break Through to Your Potential- original print April '04

Growth
Reaching down to the depths of the soul, growth challenges us to expand. Perhaps it is the leap of faith for a new career opportunity, home, city or relationship. Perhaps it is the closing of one door and the opening of another. Growth stretches us to our limits, at times more than we feel capable. Growth can be exciting, scary, painful, uplifting or sad. It can appear as loss or as a powerful addition to your life.

Spring is a natural time for growth for obvious reasons. There is someth...

White snow dusting the chocolate brown branches backed by a silver blue sky

An essential pause in a too fast world

When Perfection's a Mistake

When Perfection is a Mistake
Redefine it. Reclaim energy.

If you have been a subscriber for a while (or even 2 weeks) you know without a doubt that I’m human.  I’m absolutely not error-free.  Though I wish at times I didn’t have public “Oops” moments, it is just part of putting myself and passions out there...I’m bound to flub up now and then.

As I write this I realize the problem is not necessarily the idea of perfection, rather how we define it.

One definition of perfection is...

Passion: Between Brilliance and The Outrageus

Recently I watched the movie, Man On Wire - a fascinating story about a man, Phillippe Petit, who is wild about pushing boundaries, as well as exploring the remarkable blend of risk and art.  In August 1974 he tightrope walked (danced really) between the twin towers of the World Trade Center, some 1,300 ft off the ground.

Amazing? Outrageous? Or slightly insane?  I suspect it's somewhere in between, as often is the case when one taps into their passion.  Historically we may not realize someo...

    Motivation: Inspiration vs. Fear

In motivation there are a couple schools of thought — Inspiration/ Benefits: “I know that ‘blah blah blah’ is good for me and will cause me to feel x, y and z so I will do it.”  We see a possibility, the possibility gets us excited for what might be in our lives and voila- we're in action!  Maybe you meet a person or see a show or attend a class and it gets you in motion.  These are all examples of motivation through inspiration.
